Celebrate Your Engagement In Hertfordshire.

Congratulations from a Hertfordshire wedding photographer — you’re engaged!

As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, I work with newly engaged couples across St Albans, Hitchin, Harpenden and beyond. If you’ve just said “yes”, this guide will help you celebrate your engagement and start planning your wedding photography with confidence.

Whether it was a grand proposal, a cosy moment at home, or something beautifully personal, becoming a newly engaged couple is such an exciting milestone.

Before diving into wedding planning, take a moment to simply celebrate this new chapter in your relationship, right here in Hertfordshire or wherever your love story began.

Celebration doesn’t have to look one specific way. You might love the idea of:

  • A relaxed date night

  • A family get-together

  • A weekend getaway

  • A full engagement party

There’s no right or wrong. The best celebration is the one that feels true to you both.

And with engagement season in full swing in the UK (especially busy here in Hertfordshire!), it’s easy to feel pressured to do what everyone else is doing, but remember, this is your story. Stay anchored in what makes you happy together.

If you're already dreaming of capturing this moment, an engagement photoshoot in Hertfordshire is a beautiful way to celebrate, document your love story and start building a connection with your wedding photographer.

As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, I love helping couples feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera long before the wedding day arrives. Click Here to see more of my wedding photography.

How to Share Your Engagement (Without Rushing It)

Why an Engagement Photoshoot in Hertfordshire Is Worth It

The moment you get engaged, it’s tempting to grab your phone and tell the whole world on Instagram. But what if you took a breath and savoured it first?

Instead of rushing to announce the news, imagine marking the moment with a beautiful engagement photoshoot. This will give you time to just enjoy being engaged before the flurry of well wishes and well meaning opinions on your upcoming wedding. Having an engagement photoshoot means that you will have:

  • Gorgeous images for your announcement

  • A memorable experience together

  • Photos for save-the-dates

Hertfordshire Locations Perfect for Engagement Photos

There are so many Hertfordshire wedding venues that could make a perfect backdrop for your engagement announcement, from the gardens at Offley Place to the countryside around St Albans, and the golden fields near Hitchin Lavender. As a Hertordshire Wedding Photographer, I have worked in so many of these wonderful venues.

Did you know?
I include engagement sessions in select wedding photography packages, helping couples feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera before the big day.

Choosing the Best Season for Your Hertfordshire Wedding

Many couples already have a dream season in mind long before the proposal. Maybe you’re picturing sunshine, cosy winter vibes, or golden autumn tones.

As someone who photographs weddings all over Hertfordshire and the UK, here’s what I’ve learned about each season:

Winter Weddings in Hertfordshire

For my husband and I, a winter wedding made perfect sense. With a December anniversary and a love for Christmas, it felt magical, twinkling lights, roaring fires at Offley Place, and even snow! (Yes, really.)

A winter wedding can bring:

  • Festive décor that adds beautiful ambience from November through to December (I absolutely adore a Christmas wedding)

  • Twinkling lights and roaring fires that create a cosy, romantic atmosphere

  • While fresh flowers may be more limited, candlelight and seasonal styling bring instant warmth and elegance

  • A winter celebration gives you and your guests something truly special to look forward to during the colder months

Spring Weddings in Hertfordshire

A wedding in Spring can bring:

  • Fresh, crisp days

  • New beginnings

  • Soft natural light

  • Blossom and birdsong

This season is especially beautiful at Hertfordshire venues like Fanhams Hall, Ashridge House, and South Farm, where gardens come to life.

Autumn Weddings in Hertfordshire

Autumn weddings are becoming increasingly popular in the UK thanks to:

  • Golden leaves

  • Warm, rich tones

  • Cosy textures

  • Dreamy soft light (photographers adore it!)

As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, some of my most memorable weddings have been in autumn. One of my favourite Hertfordshire wedding venues in autumn is Fanahams Hall. Both the venue and the grounds are absolutely stunning.

Summer Weddings in Hertfordshire

Summer weddings remain the most popular, especially if you’re hoping for:

  • Outdoor wedding ceremonies

  • Garden wedding receptions

  • Long, light evenings, perfect for magical sunset wedding photos.

As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, my Summer dates book up quickly, particularly at well-loved Hertfordshire venues like South Farm, Knebworth Barns, and Hatfield House, so enquire early.

Set The Scene

Choosing the right wedding venue in Hertfordshire & beyond.

Your wedding venue sets the tone for your entire day. Whether you dream of:

  • A cosy barn wedding

  • A stunning manor house

  • A chic town hall ceremony

  • A coastal hotel weekend

…there truly is something for everyone.

Start with your vibe, then consider:

  • Travel distance

  • Guest logistics

  • Accessibility needs

  • Accommodation options

Hertfordshire has an amazing variety of wedding venues and as a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, I have been blessed to work at so many of them. I am a UK wide wedding photographer and I very much enjoy working at wedding venues all over the UK.

One of my favourite summer weddings to photograph was at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel in Dorset, where the couple’s family made a full weekend of it. That personal touch added so much meaning (and so many beautiful moments to capture).

Just because I’m a Hertfordshire wedding photographer doesn’t mean I stay within the county, I happily travel!
